New Canaan launches drug use education website for prevention, support
Police Chief Leon Krolikowski together with First Selectmen Kevin Moynihan, announced the launch of the Town’s substance use education website, drugfreenc.com
The mission of Drug Free New Canaan is to share New Canaan-centered substance use information, which educates the New Canaan Community about practical and successful models for prevention, recovery and support.
Visitors to the website can find local resources related to alcohol abuse, vaping, smoking, the abuse of both prescription and illegal drugs, and behavioral health. Visitors can answer and discuss questions to determine if they or a loved one needs help. In a news release, Krolikowski and Moynihan said, “We are hopeful that this website helps a collaborative New Canaan community to become more informed, and to seek help earlier.”
“Given the nationwide and local opioid crisis, there is a real need for more effective substance use help and education. This website is a step in the right direction” said First Selectman Moynihan.
Police Chief Krolikowski said, “Very often, the incidents we handle involve the use of abuse or substances. We are confident that this website will help educate and guide New Canaan residents that have concerns about a friend or a family member’s use of substances.”
“With the launch of drugfreenc.com and the recent appointment of John Santopietro, M.D. as the Town’s director of Behavioral Health, our Town is now a leader in enhanced behavioral health care and substance use education,” said the joint statement.
